Multiple Injections for Angiocardiography.

چکیده
In the past the value of angiocardiography has been limited by the practice of giving only one injection of contrast medium, so that selective angiocardiography tends to be restricted to the end of cardiac catheterization. Moreover, the use of biplane film changers permits only views strictly at right angles to one another. The newer contrast media are tolerated better than those formerly available and multiple injections can now be employed. As this is still not universal practice it was thought worth while to record experiences with high doses of hypaque and triosil.

Radio-potassium indicator-dilution studies during angiocardiography.
In an attempt to learn more about the physiologic changes in the cardiovascular system during angiocardiography and the nature of mixing of radio-opaque dyes with blood, radiopotassium and Diodrast I' dilution curves were obtained before and during angiocardiography. Studies in patients without valvular disease and with mitral valvular disease indicated an increased cardiac output during angioc...
متن کاملThe Effect of Angiocardiographic Contrast Medium on Circulatory Dynamics in Man. Cardiac Output during Angiocardiography.
DIAGNOSTIC angiocardiography necessitates the injection of large amounts of contrast medium into the circulation. In response to such injections a transient fall in systemic arterial blood pressure and an increase in heart rate of approximately 2 minutes' duration have been reported in human beings" 2 and in animals.3 Also, a transient cutaneous erythema is well recognized subsequent to the inj...

متن کاملHypertonicity following Selective Angiocardiography.
SELECTIVE angiocardiography as a practical means of delineating anatomic details of cardiac malformations has been advanced by the development of contrast agents with greater radiopacity, lower viscosity, and less apparent toxicity. The severe immediate reactions of collapse, so common with older media, are rarely seen today; many patients, however, still have vomiting, intense headache, and ot...
متن کاملFiberoptic-Dye Dilution Method for Measurement of Cardiac Output
A new method for the measurement of cardiac output has been tested in 69 patients undergoing catheterization of the right and left sides of the heart. It is based on the recently described fiberoptic hemoreflection method. In order to verify the validity of these measurements, correlations with stroke indices determined by the Fick principle and by biplane angiocardiography were also carried ou...
